Ch. Longhorn's Legal Eagle, CGC -- named "Perry" after the great fictional Legal Eagle, Perry Mason. Perry went to the Rainbow Bridge after a courageous bout with cancer. He was a 5 year old red and white Basset Hound. Perry was a typey, flashy dog in and out of the ring and was known as "Mr. Personality" at home (on bad days he was known as "G_d-D__m-It-Perry"). Shown sparingly, he finished his championship in a little over a month in April of 1995 with BOB's over Specials. He started his obedience training shortly thereafter and, for a Basset, made remarkable progress. The recalls were his favorite exercise.
Like most Bassets, Perry had a sweet, outgoing nature which made him a crowd pleaser wherever he went. His deliberate ways combined with his characteristic hound willfulness sometimes masked his high intelligence.
Perry lived with two other Bassets and two cats (plus or minus a neighborhood feline visitor or two). He was the Alpha Dog Wannabe among the canines and his favorite sports were competitive napping and re-landscaping the back yard when the mood struck.
