SCHEDULE FOR ALL CLASSES

Puppy Class

This class is recommended for puppies 10-18 wks old. This class is on a continual 5 week session. The aim of this class is to provide socialization, positive /reward training to your puppy and good canine manners. We will help with solutions for barking, chewing and house soiling.  This class is an ongoing class for your puppy until he/she is ready for the Basic Obedience Level I class. Cost is $50 non-members and $25 members. Call 722-1222 for information on the next set of classes.

If your puppy is older than you may consider entering the Basic Obedience Level I class.

Basic Obedience Level l

This class is geared to a dog that has little or no prior obedience training with owners that are looking to turn their dog into a well behaved pet.  This is an eight-week class and is aimed in teaching the Sit, Down, Stand, Walk on a loose leash,  Sit and Down Stay, Come/Recall.  All work will be on the left side of the handler.  We supply the collar and leash for this class.

Basic Obedience Level ll

After completing the Basic Obedience Level l class you will be entered into the Basic Obedience Level II class.  This is an eight-week class and is aimed in honing skills learned in Level l (Sit, Down, Stand, Walk on a loose leash, Sit and Down Stay, Come/Recall).  By the end of this class you and your dog should be able to work somewhat off lead and do a Novice run through.

Rally Obedience  (Novice and Advanced)

For the handler who wants to continue with the basics of training this class provides a link between the basic class and novice/agility. The dog and handler work as a team to complete a course set up by the instructor. The handler can encourage and talk to the dog thru the entire course. The course consists of signs instructing the handler on what to do next. The team moves continuously at a brisk pace with the dog under control on the left hand side of the handler.  This is a fun way to continue training and building a relationship with your dog.

Graduate Novice/Open Obedience

This is a competitive class for the serious minded handler. Dogs should be working at the Novice level. Class will include Graduate Novice exercises such as off lead heeling with emphasis on attention, drop on recall, recall with dumbbell, recall over high jump, recall over broad jump, and 3 minute down (out of sight). Open exercises will also be included. This class will also include efficiently moving from one exercise to the next and where to expect the judge to be for each exercise.

Intermediate Obedience

For the dog and handler who want to go to the next level of obedience. This includes Novice, Open, and Utility in preparation for competition. For more detailed information on Novice, Open and Utility please go to the AKC website at www.akc.org.
